From 1999 until 2012, Advantage West Midlands provided support and funding to a wide variety of projects from across the region. These included the transformation of New Street Station into a landmark transport hub, the development of the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) at Ansty Park, the relocation of multi-national company Moog onto i54 at Wobaston Road and the All Saints project – the first office development in Sandwell town centre for 30 years.

The West Midlands’ world leading expertise in automotive innovation, research and technologies is being harnessed to establish a market lead in the global development and production of low carbon vehicles. Advantage West Midlands worked with industry, universities and research organisations to deliver £90 million worth of collaborative programmes that will accelerate the development of low carbon vehicles.

New Street

New Street Gateway

Advantage West Midlands contributed £100m to the Birmingham Gateway project to redevelop New Street Station. The project will transform the station, the shopping centre above it, and the surrounding environs to create a world-class transport hub and civic amenity for the city and region, and is a key part of the continuing renaissance of the city.

Rugby Power Academy

Rugby Power Academy

Rugby Power Academy is a pioneering new facility to train the technicians of the future who will be operating the next generation of power stations. Backed by the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) which works with employers on training in the power industry, and with support of £6.3 million from Advantage West Midlands,  the academy is set to have a huge impact on the future of environmental technologies. Training will focus on turbines and carbon friendly power generation.
